Experience Profile and How It Relates to This Role
I am a finance and governance professional with experience supporting organisations that manage public, donor, and member-based funds in high-accountability environments. My work spans development finance, cooperative and non-profit institutions, and donor-funded programmes operating under complex regulatory and stakeholder expectations.
I bring strong finance expertise in financial management, fiduciary oversight, risk management, internal controls, and governance systems. I have worked closely with boards and senior management to strengthen financial discipline, improve transparency, support audit readiness, and enable informed strategic decision-making. My experience is particularly relevant to member-owned and socially-driven organisations such as Care Coop, where prudent stewardship of member resources, accountability, and trust are essential. I understand the balance between financial sustainability and member welfare, and the importance of governance structures that support ethical leadership and long-term resilience.
As a member of the Care Coop Board of Directors, I want to continue contributing to a disciplined, mission-aware perspective, combining technical financial expertise with strategic insight to support sound governance, safeguard member interests, and promote sustainable growth in line with cooperative principles.
What You Intend to Bring to the Board
I bring three things to the board:
-
Strong financial and fiduciary oversight: I am comfortable reading beyond the numbers; asking the right questions about sustainability, risk, controls, and whether financial decisions truly support the cooperative's mission and members.
-
Practical governance experience: I've worked closely with boards and senior management, so I understand the board's role in setting direction, providing oversight, and holding management accountable without crossing into operations.
-
A mission-aware, member-focused perspective: I understand cooperative principles and the importance of trust, transparency, and ethical stewardship of member resources. My contributions are always grounded in protecting member interests while positioning the Coop for long-term growth and resilience.
Overall, I bring a calm, analytical voice that helps the board make informed, balanced decisions; especially in complex or high-risk situations.
